OverviewThe class I took was Wood 1, and we learned about different types of woods, defects, and measuring tools. We used different machines, experimented with wood and used a lot of problem solving.

Take-A-Ways My biggest take-a-way is safety. Safety was a big part to this course, and working in an environment like this. Another take-a-way was how to use different machines, and learning when to use them in a real life situation. My final take-a-way is problem solving. In this class, problem solving was key and this class in all made me a better person, and will help me in the future.

Safety
MIn this class, learning about the machines, and how to use them in a safe way is huge. In this class we learned about machines like table saw, band saw, jointer, planer, lathe, disc sander, router, and gluing and clamping. I now know how to use wood working machines safely, and effectively. My teacher also would make sure that the whole class learned from mistakes, so when someone made a safety mistake, he stopped the whole class and pulled them over to go over the issue.
